Direct reduction ironmaking is a process that produces sponge iron through solid-state reduction below the melting point of iron ore. The product is named for its porous structure, with low carbon and silicon content, and composition similar to steel, often substituting for scrap in electric arc furnace steelmaking. This process uses hydrogen or carbon-based reducing agents to directly reduce iron ore, yielding sponge iron and metallized pellets. Flotation machine is used for separating ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It can be also used for separation of non-metal materials such as coal fluorite and steatite.
